living deliberately

{9 months ago, life was painful, then she was born and it made it all better}(((Hannah, like the apron?:)))
Today was stake conference for church. It was wonderful, Elder Perry and President Uchdorf spoke (jealous right?). While sitting listening to the words of these wise men, I remembered two things:
1) President Monson told us in general conference a few weeks ago, to enjoy life...NOW.
2) My mom always told us to enjoy each stage of your life that you are in. In fact those words are etched on her head stone. I try really hard to do this, make her proud.
So while sitting there, wrestling Lily, and looking at my hunky hubby, I realized I have so much to celebrate. Right then and there I started a new family tradition. We are going to bi-annually have a celebration randomly in the year in honor of our wonderful life. To celebrate. Even when times suck and are hard, there is always something to be happy about.
So today started that tradition of celebrating our wonderful life.
Dinner was de-lish. BBQ chicken wings for our carnivores. Grilled veggies and tofu for me. Roasted potatoes which were lovely with my home made bbq sauce.

Ugly cake. Also a new tradition. Make yummy cake, poor warm frosting over it and let it happen. Its ugly. Its cake. Its yummy. The frosting was 'winged' and it turned out like fudge...so good. Secret ingredient?:Hazelnut coffee creamer.

Home made BBQ sauce. Secret ingredient?: Cinnamon, and molasses...divine.

After feasting with our friends, we went around the room and shared what we were enjoying in the stage of life that we were in.

Chad: being completely open about his testimony of Christ and His Gospel. Answering any questions about our religion at school, fearlessly and making new friends.

Sean: being settled

Brooke: Being a mom (we both got a little teary-eyed)

Me:I am really loving where I am in life. Spiritually, mentally, socially, and getting there physically. I love Lily at the age she is, I love how much fun I have each day.

We really do have SO much to celebrate. I hope my mom was proud.

This is an awesome post, Rachel.

Made me a little teary eyed-especially the new tradition. My mom decided we should have a theme for Taela's birthday party this Saturday. Guess what the theme is? "It's a Wonderful Life" so your new tradition sort of..hit home? Anyhow, that's a lovely little celebration dinner! And looked so way yummy. 'specially the cake. Yeah, diggin' the cake.

I'll call you later this week re:Saturday.
