typical tuesday: Jessica Smith

Better late than never right folks?! Today's typical tuesday is one of my favorite people ever. My sister Jessica Smith (technically step-sister, but we say sister). Jessica is someone I want to be like when I grow up. She has a great job, adorable little boy, Caden (Eden and Caden are like a month and a half apart!), happily married for 8 years(?), they live in Seattle area in their own beautiful house, Jess is very kind, hard working, sweet and just really easy to talk to. I love having her a as a sister. You are jealous.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me just start by saying that when your husband is a commercial airline pilot with what I affectionately refer to as a “no-schedule schedule,” there really is no such thing as a “Typical” Tuesday (or a Typical any-other-day for that matter).  But, with that disclaimer, this is what last Tuesday looked like!
Zach had a short layover in Seattle from Monday night through Tuesday early afternoon, so we were all home when our Baby Boy woke us up at 6:26 in the morning.  I got Caden from his crib and we spent the next about 1/2 hour doing our favorite thing – SNUGGLING!

At 7:00 I decided it was about time to get out of bed and get ready for the day.  Whenever Zach is home in the mornings I get in the shower and get ready while he takes Caden downstairs to get him fed and dressed.  He also makes me an amazing latte and brings it up to in the bathroom to enjoy while I get ready…talk about SPOILED. :)  And today I’m wearing my awesome hair thing that Rach made all the girls for our sister’s wedding a couple weeks ago.

After Caden and I are both ready to go I take him to his daycare where he goes 3 days a week (he’s home with Zach the other 2 weekdays) and then I head to my office a couple blocks from his school while Zach gets to enjoy a (rare) quiet morning at home, just him and Porter the dog, going for a long run and relaxing before he heads back to the airport.  Once I get to work I turn on my computer and then get coffee #2 (and usually #3…but I swear at some point during the day I switch to green tea).  I work at an engineering firm in Redmond, WA as an environmental geologist doing primarily soil and groundwater remediation.
Usually around 11:30 or 12:00 I go to lunch with co-workers (sorry, forgot to take pictures) and then occasionally stop by Caden’s school to peak in on him at nap time.  The kids look so cute all laying on their individual cots around the play room snuggled into their blankets.

After work (usually around 4:30 or 5ish) I pick Caden up from school and we head home…Zach won’t get home until around midnight, so Caden and I are on our own.  We play trains for what feels like hours and then we eat a super quick dinner (cause we’re too busy playing trains to cook) of breakfast food: pancakes, scrambled eggs, toast, tomatoes and bacon.

After dinner it’s time for a bath and by about 7:45 the baby is asleep in his bed!

Now is when I feed Porter the Puppy and walk through the house and assess the damage from the afternoon.  I’m always amazed at how messy the house can get in a few short hours!  I spend the next 20-30 minutes cleaning up after the tornado.

After that I head straight into my sewing/craft/office room where I spend the next couple hours working on my latest project…sorry, can’t share what I’m making, but I will say that it’s almost Mother’s Day!

I usually get into bed around 10 or 10:30 and tonight Zach crawled in sometime around 11:30 or midnight.  Life is good!

See, now you're jealous.
Love you Jess, thanks for sharing your day with us!

typical tuesday: Meghan Burrows

Hey folks. Today my awesome friend Meghan is sharing a Tuesday with us. Meghan and I were roommates back in the day of BYU-I. We also worked at Little Caesars together. Also went to Warped Tour together once. She is adorable, vegan, has a cool old house in Salt Lake City, married to a sweet artist, always knows about new, awesome music and has excellent thrifting skills.
Any ways, here's a look into a typical tuesday for Meghan!

Typical Tuesday:
Hello Everyone!! My Typical Tuesday starts with my alarm going off at 6:15. I push the snooze button until about 6:40, then I roll out of bed and get ready. This is pushing it, because I have to be at work at 7:30. I get ready for the day, usually the minimal. Today is a hat day. We got in late last night from visiting San Francisco for my brothers wedding, and I didn't shower.

I get my breakfast and lunch packed, grab the rest of my things and I leave my house around 7:18, which is a little late.(quite typical for me).

Slushy snow on my windshield, but that's March in Utah for you. Thankfully its not that dark outside when I pull into work. I work at the Montessori Community School of Salt lake City.

I get to work, see the wonderful Frida Khalo art the Elementary classes did, put my lunch away and put my bag in the classroom that I work in. I walk past all the cute small little cubbies. I check to see if there are any kids waiting on me with the other early morning teacher and then I go downstairs to the art room where we have Early Care class for Elementary and 3-6 yr old's. I eat my breakfast down there and usually have little friends join me with their breakfasts. Mine's a Larabar today.

At 8:20 all the kids are picked up by their different teachers and I get to go upstairs to the Toddlers, thats where my busy day starts. We paint, build towers with blocks, play with playdough, play with trains, and wash babies(toy babies), eat snack, play in the gym or outside, practice pouring water, potty training(for some), and all other sorts of things you can imagine a toddler doing. We do all of these things, until their parents come to pick them up at 11:30.

Then I get to go play on the bike patio with the 3-6 year old's. After that Its lunch time from 12:30-1:15. Today's lunch is an eggless tofu salad sandwich(its actually very yummy). When my lunch is over I get to go into the nap room and hang out with sleeping toddlers(different from the ones I spend my mornings with). :-) They are adorable.

I hang out with the sleeping toddlers until they start to wake up. When they wake up I get to help them find and put on their shoes, fold up their blankets, and wash hands and get snack. I get to read stories and work with them on different activities until its time for me to go home at 4:15. By that time I am EXHAUSTED. Working with kiddos is fun, but tiring.

I get home around 4:30 and am greeted by Ms. Eleanor the Cat. We cuddle a little and she usually meows at me(indications she wants food). We either take a little nap, I blog, watch TV, or I think about working out until Mr. Burrows gets home from work around 6:30pm.

When my love gets home we snuggle on the couch for a little while, then make dinner. Tonight's dinner is simple: Chips, beans, guacamole, salsa, vegan sourcream, and one of our favorite drinks: some apple martinellis mixed with Kombucha. After dinner Brady works on one of his many projects he is working on for his graphic design business. I sit next to him on my computer blogging, playing on facebook or trying to get some work done for my Montessori Certification program I am taking to be a certified Montessori Teacher. We do that until about 10pm then its off to bed, but we typically don't make it to bed until closer to 11pm. Then we get to wake up and do it all over again.

So there is my typical Tuesday, not too exciting and quite typical. *Rachel, thank you so much for letting me share my typical Tuesday with you and your blog. You are Awesome!

No, no. Thank YOU Meghan. You are awesome.

typical tuesday: Laura Lopez

Happy Tuesday! Here today is my friend Laura. I have actually known Laura for a while, we are both  from the NW Washington area, Chad actually went to high school with her. I remember going to a play at their high school and she was Maria in West Side Story (am I remembering correct Laura?) any way, she has an awesome voice. Now she is all married, has a great husband and three adorable kids.

Well when Rachel Begged me to do a Typical Tuesday, I could Hardly refuse....alright, alright, I sort of begged her if I could do it.

Our Typical Tuesday started out not so Typical. I  didn't go to bed till around midnight the night before only to wake up at 2am to our 3 yr old "Bibbit" saying he"spit up" only to find out that he had actually thrown up. He had had a fever the day before and we were lucky enough to have this follow (note sarcasm). Don't worry I saved you the graphic pictures... you're welcome!

Then Our little 8month old "Wonder Women" woke up bright and early at 5a.m. I knew it was going to be a great day! Luckily "Mac Daddy" didn't have to go into work until 9a.m. So he was kind enough to let me go back to bed for about an hour and he got the kids breakfast. I have no idea what they had, I didn't ask, he didn't tell (truth be told he usually makes pancakes). All I know is they were feed! What a Stud!

We then Proceeded to go and play outside. Since we moved to this house, our boy's have been out all day everyday. They can't get enough of the swings. Wonder Women even got a chance to try her's out. I don't think a little girl could adore her brother's more than she does and vice-a-versa.
While they played out in the back I watched them from the kitchen window, ate a quick tasty bowl of Granola and a banana and quickly checked my e-mail.
"Bibbit" having been up all night, Poor little guy conked out on the couch. While he slept "Wonder Women" woke up from her nap and helped me refresh "Biggest Boy's" memory on shapes and what happens when you mix primary colors, as well as enjoyed a little snack herself! Yumm green beans!
While London worked on his school work and Ellie enjoyed snacks I hopped in the shower.
Funny story about our shower. We moved into our house about a month ago and just recently found out that our "frosted" windows aren't quite as frosty as one would hope. Like our neighbors probably got to "know" me very well over the past few weeks, I mean you can see EVERYTHING from those windows. It was pretty exciting, I mean what a great way to get introduced into the neighborhood, right?  Here is our solution we came up with today. Open...Hello Light, Closed...Hello Privacy! Isn't "Mac Daddy" a genius!?! I was quite happy with the result!

So while I got ready for the day, Yup that's as good as it's going to get, "Biggest Boy" occupied "WsWonder Women" Man, that kid loves his little sister, they have such a fun time together. Today they were paddling away from the Crocs!
Only one break down today! But he was sick so you can't blame the little guy.
Anthony got home early from work and let me take a little rest, while they enjoyed some tasty Popsicle out back!
A quick trip to the grocery store. Big helpers with dinner, I think "Bibbit" ate more of that bacon than what ended up in the pasta salad. Our day isn't complete without the help from Pandora, I seriously don't know what I would do without that little beauty!
A quick clean up
Then on to one of our favorite family pass times, WIPE-OUT!!! It got moved to Tuesday nights. We usually are all in tears from laughing so hard. Nothing brings a family together like watching people get hurt right?
A little Scripture study.
Then I buckle down and do some serious studying/refreshing my memory on Water Areobics, I have to teach a class this Thursday and it's been 3yrs since I taught a class last.  Fingers crossed it goes alright!
Aside from the adventurous night we had that's a pretty typical Tuesday for these Rapscallions!

Thanks Rachel for A.)boring you to tears 2.)Making you a little queasy with my vomit story, and D.) Sharing my embarrassing Naked Story! :) Happy Tuesday!!!

Thanks Laura!

typical tuesday: Tiffany Reeder

Hola! Welcome to Tiffany's tuesday. We have never met in real life (yet!), but I do know she is so sweet, loves her family (her kids are so dang cute!) and she takes great pictures. Here we go!

i promise this might just be the most mundane typical day, tuesday ... ever. and i may be too ADD to have stuck with one actual tuesday to record. typical. but that's what this is...typical tuesday.

+++++++++

typically the first escapee joins my bed around 6:45 in the am, way to early for my taste. will is typically showering and getting ready for work at this point. but they sure do look yummy all cozied up. even at 7:30 - years of this and i am still not a morning person. but it's hard deny the joy a tender GOOD MORNINNNNGGGGG can bring your heart.

there is typically even more dust then shown...i think we live in a dust bowl out here...hold on i'm going to dust it while i'm thinking about it...done.
typically right off the bat eth finds his favorite wheels of the day.
typically luce is happy to have breakfast "baawwww, bawwww" granola bars.
typically i don't really eat breakfast, but i had just recently taken my homemaker skills to a whole notha level and made...freezer jam. i think i had lots of breakfast this day.
typically, always, we start our day with pandora. it looks like today was a day of musicals.
typically we eat like hobbits, we as in the children, this is second breakfast. first breakfast was on my bed eating granola bars...forgot to capture that, but i'm sure you can imagine...
now we typically check on the new sunflower starters we have going...
kadence is in the lead here...but truth be known as i type, ethan is kicking her soil pot.
typically, kadence is starting one of her many, many art projects. here is alice and 'underland'
typically i am starting a load of laundry that may take me a week to fold and put away...typical.  not this load though, it's a sure to get done today...harrison's bedding.
typically these stairs get a lot of attention, up and down, down and up, up and down....
typically our dog who is at at least fifty percent blind will growl, sratch and whine at the door, sure that one of our cats is out there, typically there is nothing.
typically big brothers will protect what is sacred to them...like the "earn your bike sticker chart"
and you can see why...once they have so many stickers, it's bike shopping we go. they get them for many things...it's hard to keep up...
woooo, doggy, these are vitamin c's. typically...
miss tinker is onto her second project, a cardboard house for her people...
typically there are a few times when these imaginations run wild...
typically i am not a short order cook, but we needed to use leftovers...since ethan didn't like either first time around he went with his safe choice...typical.
be glad you can't hear our nap rap.
 bunch of fakers.
 and shmoozers.
some wake up with a wicked case of bedhead and attitude.
while the little ones sleep, this little lady does some school work.
and she always has ideas of her own.
and every so often there are tender mercies, like when i see my little lucy, quietly reading a book on the stairs. yummy.
typically we follow the rules when are out and about at the zoo...but it can be hard at times.

typical. they are looking darling, naughty yet darling.
typically when the lovely weather of south east idaho permits we are outside till the sun goes down.
we try new tricks on the slide, tummy races on the swings...and of course kadence pops into the shot to show me a her newest twirl.
typically the day ends the way it began...with a prayer. we prayed to endure and enjoy.
we give thanks that we did.

good night tuesday, thanks for the typical joys and typical adventures. peed pants, scrapped knees, stolen toys, sneaking candies, spilled water cups, perfect organic giggles, sweet exchanges of love and support between siblings...and good morning wendesday. let's see what have you have to offer....

thank you darling rach for letting take a smidge of time on your super cute blog.

Thank you Tiff, you are awesome. The last picture kills me.
