Ok Rach, I am a HUGE young adult genre fan. So, my recommendation is "Hunger Games". Probably my favorite book I read last year and I read alot of books. Plus, it was my book club's fav book of the 12 we read last year too.

Let me know what you end up reading, I'm always up for good books. And you should join Good Reads. :)

I agree - I JUST read Hunger Games, and loved it, and am reading the sequel now and am loving it too. Also, if you like Dan Brown, you will probably like James Rollins. Great author, tons of books. My favorite of his is Amazonia, but I haven't read his latest two yet.
Another young adult series is Fablehaven. I have only read the 1st one, but it was really good, and I think there are quite a few books now.
Have fun! Reading is like my FAV, although when I get into a REALLY good book I tend to neglect everything...ooops!!!

Oh, and another one you would probably like is "The Peacegiver" by James Ferrell (sp?). It is a churchy book, really enlightening stuff about the atonement. It is in story form, so it sinks in with me a little bit more. Plus it is only a couple hundred pages, so it is a quick read, and interesting enough to be a page turner.

I'm so reading that book right now, too! I loooove Dan Brown!

I don't really have any book suggestions-I'm a sucker for cop drama/forensics drama books, so if you like that kind of thing I can point you in the right way!

That's one of my goals this year too! A book a month! I just finished, tonight actually, Princess Academy. A quick read and such a cute story!

I'm also reading, The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, by Dr. Laura. Very good, and I recommend it to any wife.

ooh! fun question! I LOVE "These is My Words," by Nancy Turner. It's a page turner jam-packed with adventure, drama, heartache, suspense, and one of the most incredible love stories you'll ever hear. The part that makes it so great is that it's all based on true events taken from a young woman's diary settling Arizona in the early 1900's. Despite her incredible hardships, it celebrates the strength that comes from love and family. It was all I thought about when I wasn't reading it, and when I finished it, I cried like a baby. Go read the reviews on Amazon...I can't do it justice! =)

I too liked Hunger Games, I can't get into the sequel for some reason, may have to try again. The Kite Runner and the other book from the same author--A Thousand splendid suns are must reads. Ender's Game is my all time favorite as well as Ender's Shadow and that whole series. I liked the Peacegiver as well. James Baldacci is good too. I did read the whole twilight series and liked the first book the best. And the Host was by the same author and was okay too.

Funny how everyone is saying Hunger Games. I love, love, love Hunger Games. And the final book comes out this year! Yay. Did you ever read any of the Fable Haven books? I'm not sure which type of genre you are really into, but I thoroughly enjoy those (and the final one comes out this year, as well). They get better the more books you read. The Percy Jackson series is fun as well. Tyler loved The Road. Coraline and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman are interesting. I have never read this next one, but I've only heard good things about it: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. If you need more recommendations, let me know. I read. A lot. I love books.

That was a great book! I've read all Dan Brown's book and that one came #2 for me (Angels and Demons is still #1).

And GREAT idea for a goal! I think that's do-able. Can I copy?

I read The Help by Kathryn Stockett last month and it was one of the best books I've read in a long time. It's not action/adventure like Dan Brown but it really made me appreciate all the efforts others put towards the civil rights movement. You'll fall in love with the characters. And it would be a great month to start reading it!

I'm with Rachel (of Rachel & Andrew), "These is My Words" was really really good. I borrowed it from a friend to read, but it is one of those books that I would like to own so I could read it multiple times.
And like Kaitlyn, I'd totally recommend "The Historian". I own that one so if you want to borrow it you're welcome to it.

I'd also recommend "Animal Dreams" by Barbara Kingsolver... and if you want a really thick book..."Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.

I opened up "The Scarlett Letter" the other day, but am also reading "1984", & "The Agony & The Esctacy"... I'm always up for a book discussion though, so let me know if you're ever interested. Maybe we could do an online book club with all the friends that are far away.

I am on track to finish the Book of Mormon in one month, usually I don't get past 2nd Nephi! Also, I too, would recommend The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr Laura Schlessinger - I think that should be required for any woman that is married or about to get married.
