mid summer's night dinner

One of my best friends moved here 6 months ago (score!).
But, she and her family are moving away in a matter of days cause her husband landed his dream job (so awesome!/so lame!)

Tonight, I threw them an adults only, dinner party, in honor of them.

It was out in the middle of no where.
Just a cool little deck over a creek out in the middle of a field
(I've got the right connections to discover this gem).
Chad and I took apart, then assembled our huge dining table that all ten of us comfortably.
We lit 100 tea lights in 100 baby food jars, threw some fabric on and called it a table cloth.
Set the table with mixed silverware and dishes, and paper towels for fancy napkins.
Everyone met at our place and once they were here, we pulled the food out of the oven and hurried over to the secret spot so it stayed nice and toasty....

The weather could not have been more perfect, the cicadas and crickets were our live band
....and I must say, the food turned out pretty good...not to brag or anything...

the menu:
yummy bubbly (dont freak out, non alcoholic!) drinks
fresh cherry, goat cheese and arugula salad
roasted red potatoes with fresh parmesan and fresh basil
rotisserie chicken
and to seal the deal: chocolate salted caramel cake.

We laughed and talked, and talked and laughed.
And soon it was time to pack up and get back to babysitters and our babies.

We sure love Heather and Cory, I hope they felt that tonight.
