at home

So we slowly, very slowly are adding little 'us' touches to our place,
Yes, we have lived in our sweet little place for about 9 months, and most walls are still naked.
I think I kept thinking, "What's the point? We're just going to move again in the next few months..."
But really, we don't know whats going to happen next.
One day Chad came home and said, "I think its time to be ok with making this place "ours"". I'm glad he did, I feel a little bit more settled, I still wonder what will happen next for us, but I'm not letting that wonder inhibit us from being "at home" where ever we are.

Chad will dumpster dive, rather often at work and bring things home and say "I think you could do something with this".
So with this piece of scrap wood, we painted it with some random paint that was is in our little garage thingy, and then let the girls go to town.
I love original kid art. There are hand and feet print all over, even one of the paintbrushes dried onto it. This will be in my house until forever.

How fantastic! I'm sure that painting session was such a fun memory :) And I love that you're so great about enjoying life in the moment, I'd love to see all of the "meynders" touches to your house :)

And yay for reusing! When I read that Chad dumpster dives I immediately thought of a clip from "Portlandia" (have you heard of the show?) Adam and I watch it on hulu...check this one out:

Did you see this youtube rachel? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY1Lr-yGtd8&feature=player_embedded#at=49 This guy had a lot of experience playing with paint, like your children! I'm waiting for one of my children to make me a painting like this!

That's awesome. I can totally relate to bare walls. I am terrible at getting settled because we, too, are in such limbo.

love that original. better keep your eye on that one...it's cute and honest :> i love when my kids go crazy with painting. we have an art gallery in the hall way, filled with canvases and masterpieces made by the creative talents in the home. also AMEN to covering naked walls. we have been here for almost 6 months now and i find that within minutes over adding a touch of us i feel we've been here longer...home.

so here's to covering naked walls.
