sassy 80's mom tea dress

Here is one of my latest projects, like really the latest cause I just finished about five minutes ago.
Still pretty crappy at taking pictures of myself. Sorry a head of time.
I first saw the huge amoeba/paisley+crazy floral print and knew it was love. Plus I need to add some cotton to the wardrobe...polyester is kind of taking over...plus 2 bucks for a new dress 'aint bad.
Here's the before:
Way too long, the sleeves too baggy, and the v-neck too deep (I adjusted it for pictures, cause honestly it was real low, some real sassy 80's mom wore this prior apparently).
The after:
Honestly, what is that face? I don't know.
All I did was:
  • shorten the length
  • turn it backwards
  • roll the sleeves
  • take in the V-neck, cause no one wants to see my hot nude shade bra and under shirt right? Right.
Now who wants a tea party?

Side note, can we all agree that Phil Dunphy is the best character in the universe? Thanks.

When you turned it around, did you have to sew darts in to accommodate the "ladies?" It's really cute.

I wish I knew how to sew! That is so awesome and I am so jealous of your awesome talent! You should totally be a fashion designer. J-Lo used to buy old people pants at Walmart where she could afford them and then turn them into mini skirts and add rhinestones and stuff before she made it big! Its true. You could totally be her! Well... the mormon, white version of her:)

I dont remember where I found your blog but I love it. I NEED to do this. I'm constantly finding dresses at the DI that I SHOULD revamp and then chicken out! HOT HOT!

Go rach! seriously you rock :) You have such a great eye, and I've loved seeing all your transformation sewing projects :) And "sassy 80's mom"...lol

PS - adam and I can't get enough of Phil. One of my favorite phil-isms was when he was trying to fix a big mess-up with Claire and he was so sweet and got her ONE DOZEN MYLAR BALLOONS. "Good luck stayin' mad, honey!" LOL

New to your blog and LOVE it! SAHM can't always afford to have fancy/cool clothes. I think I get more hand me downs than my 4 children LOL! This is a great idea! You are so crafty and such an inspiration! Thank you
