chop

Things are changing around here, spring is clinging on here for as long as it can, but pretty soon the forecast will say 100*f daily. Lily is almost done with school (next week?!). We are settling into our new home a little more each day, we are making new friends, I am getting over post-partum crap...

Whenever this happens, when change happens, I crave to have an outward expression of change.
For me, this usually me desperately wanting to chop my hair off, or get a tattoo.
I have a rule, I have to want to chop my hair off for 4 months striaght, and then I chop it off. So far...I dont last that long. Same with a tattoo.
But I wont lie.

Its killing me. I want short hair....and a tattoo.
Evil? Maybe.

What about you? Ever done something drastic like chop it all off? Have a tattoo? Do you regret doing that?

I go through similar cravings of wanting short hair!! For months now I've been toying with the idea... ps. I love that actress you posted pics of in your post. You could rock any hair cut or tattoo rach... luckily, hair always grows back! :)

do the hair. It's changeable, but a tattoo isn't!

I chopped my hair off when I was 4 months prego with #2 (#1 was only 7 months old). I broke every rule imaginable- but over a year later and not one day has passed that I regret going super pixie short

I totally chopped my hair last summer, and it was totally worth it, cause like you said, living in this Rain Forest Weather it's a BEAST! and I must say I LOVED not having my hair touch my neck and having it be super easy to do. I may just do it again this summer. Btw I think you could totally rock the short hair!

I have the short hair phases too- and also have a couple month rule. I don't like needles, or I'd be with you on the tattoos too. As things stand, henna is enough for me ;)

I have chopped my lifelong long hair once really short (similar to your first example) and ended up really enjoying it:) I donated my hair to Locks of Love http://www.locksoflove.org/. At least this way, if I hated it I knew I would still feel good about donating. Don't worry - it will grow back! Mine is longer now than it was before. I LOVED having it off my neck that summer. I also have tattoos (2)and love them too. Sounds like we have similar cravings:) I say go for it ~ you only live once!

Tattoo-BTDT...can't say I regret it, but it doesn't mean much to me now that I'm older. I have wanted to get some baby footprints with the babies' names and birthdates but that's one I would want John to do with me and he won't.

Short hair-I chopped mine when Keira was about 5 months old and I was already pregnant with Scharae but didn't know it yet. Totally regret it. I got so swollen and fat-faces by the end of that pregnancy! It was not a good look for me. But I do think about going short again someday. Just not pixie-short!

Just chopped my hair, not as short as those, but it feels so nice and refreshing. If my hair would curl like in that last photo, I would do that in a heartbeat. Also, thinking of getting a tattoo I've been contemplating while my husband is out of town. I like to do drastic things when he leaves :)

I totally get the big change thing. I go from long hair to short all the time. After my second child was born was when I did the big hair change for the first time. In the 15 yrs since then I've been back and forth so often it's normal now. So a few years ago I decided that my change would include a tattoo. A friend convinced me not to go ahead with it. She showed me hers... it was just to the left of her naval. She had gained some weight and it had changed from a squirrel to Godzilla! Be careful where you put a tatto is all I'm sayin'... In the end I didn't go for the tattoo. But I tried high lights in my hair instead!

have you seen the snl skit about tattoos on lower backs and how awful they look with age? its hilarious. and it will help you not want to get on.

the hair thing, i'd loooooooove to chop mine off short short short like the first images. not sure i could rock it though. but i'm all for others doing it!! its so adorable.

change is good. and hair grows back.

Yup- chopped and colored orange/red :). I love change, especially when I have no control over other areas of my life. I can control my hair, and I like it crazy! A tattoo- I've often thought about one but wouldn't get one.

Chopped mine off After Lucy. HATED it. I will not go that short ever again.(I have deleted every picture of it) I have never had a desire for a tattoo, but i have always wanted to get another piercing in each ear. I think you should do whatever you feel will make you happy. Life is too short!

Yes, yes and yes. Big changes in your life NEED a physical change too. Whenever I have the need for a change I always go between two things.

#1 Dye my hair blonde. I have dark hair. Like my-roots-will-show-the-next-day dark hair. I have yet to do it (thank you 2 month rule) but reading your post has planted the thought back in my brain (thank you Rachel).

#2 Get my ears pierced some more. I consider this to be like your want for a tattoo. Being LDS it is frowned upon to have more than one piercing. But... I think it would be totally rad. And would look beautiful.

I am happy to say (I think??) that I have yet to do either of them. But you never know... change happens all of them time. I just might cave!
