resolve, answer, hope and child care!

Can I just tell you how excited I am? Lately I have been wanting SO bad to go to the gym, but the campus is a little far, and dont know if you knew, but I kinda have a no one to watch the bebe. So I have been taking Lils on walks, we have a honk'n hill by our place that we go up and down, and up and down...its actually really a work out, especially pushing a stroller.
But the other day I went for a walk and I kinda got followed by a creepy guy, i dont think he knows where i live but it still freaked my freak a little...especially cause I called Chad to tell him that there is a guy following me and he was an hour away in Portland, felling very helpless. Basically it just makes me not wanna go out and about with out Chad or at least him at home for me to come home to. (welcome to living in a decent sized city and in not the nicest area:)
SOOooo long story short, I (on monday) am going to join Golds gym! (its like maybe a 2 minute drive or a 10 min walk)The selling point: CHILD CARE! oh yeah baby, I can work out for at least an hour a day and Lils can get other babies slobber and snot all over her:) oh and there are classes there too! YOGA!I am actually really excited and this is honestly an answer to prayer. The kid we met with today is giving us a sweet deal too...also an answer to prayer.
Another answer to prayer, today we went to a BBQ with church people and we got to meet some really fun couples! Some other stay at home moms that hopefully we can kid-swap and hang out together. I realized today that I was really stressing out about Chad being gone so much and me not really having very many friends (yet) and kinda home bound cause I really dont like wasting gas. Today was just a day full of resolve and hope:) and a day with a LONG post with no pictures, sorry.

Advice from one wife of a grad student to another...hmm. Well, make friends! We're going to a student married ward, so there are a lot of women who are stay at home moms while their husband is in school. That helps to have a friend who is going through the same things. Find a hobby. Something that you can do with or without Lily to make the time go by faster. Because we have three kids, Steve usually has his study groups meet at out place after the kids go to bed. That way he's home, but is working. It works for us. And try to help Chad as much as you can. The work load for a grad student is big. The one thing that really helped us was talking about what I wanted and needed from him while Steve was at home. I would imagine that an MBA is bit tougher than just a MAcc (Master of Accounting), but still, it's going to be a lot of studying hours and a lot of time away from home. We also found that Steve needed an outlet from school. For him, video games and golf. And, well, I like both, so then we got to spend more time together while he was working the stress out. So that's about it. I tend to keep to myself and am not very outgoing, so it's been harder on me. You sound like a very outgoing person and are capable of going outside your comfort zone to make friends and finding things to keep you from going insane. Good luck with that! If you wanna chat some more, my e-mail is Good luck!!

Hey Rachel!
I totally understand about being freaked out about going out on walks by yourself. I'm alwaysd worried about some crazy person or homeless person attacking me while I'm out on the trails...there are some really shady looking people out walking around. The last time I was out there was this homeless guy that was totally beat up with a neck brace on swaying back and forth on the trail, SCARY!
Anyways, good for you for getting a gym pass you will feel so much better, I am SO ready to start excercising again and to get my body back!!

Hey Sis! I had a quote on the side of my Starbucks cup today that made me think of you and your new city and it just happens to be written by my absolute favorite author also! Here it is...

"I used to feel so alone in the city. All those gazillions of poeple and then me, on the ouside. Because how do you meet a new person? I was very stumped by this for many years. And then I realized, you just say, "Hi." They may ignore you. Or you may marry them. And that possibility is worth that one word."
