DC part deux

Thanks to my amazing aunt and cousin, Chad and I were able to see a little more than just gravel paths and the subways today.
The WW2 memorial made me get emotional. So powerful, you go there, you read the solemn and profound quotes, you see the art that tell stories, and really you feel...so small. I don't know how to put it, so much loss for the fight for good, my respect was deepened even more so for the men and women in the armed forces.
The Vietnam Memorial. That war? So confusing, what it the biggest mistake our country made? It is still debated. Seeing these names, I even look at these pictures on my computer screen and get teary-eyed. So many lives, so many young fathers, brothers, friends. I walked along and felt the engravings at my fingertips, so much sacrifice. I once again felt so small. What if each name was a dad like my Chad, with a wife and two baby girls at home?  I cant even comprehend that. Thousands of names.
I don't think I will ever comprehend war. This memorial, once again, made me emotional with gratitude for our service people, who literally give everything.

After walking and talking about politics (my uncle is the KING of political arguments, it's a hoot just talking to the guy) and business ideas, we checked out my kind of party, the art museums.
Holy moly. HUGE. I'm talking ginormous building for modern art, and then a mind boggling ginormo museum for basically all other forms of art.
You could spend days there. I wish I could really. We saw priceless pieces by Picasso, Monet, DaVinci, Rembrant, Michelangelo, I mean, the stuff I memorized in my Humanities 203 class. I'm talking, serious stuff. So inspiring and awesome...and I might have gotten yelled at for taking this picture, and using my phone to call my sister. Oops.

DC is awesome. I want to come back for a few weeks and just take my time soaking it all in. So amazing. AND it's all FREEEEEEEEEEE.

I am so glad you are having fun! Thanks again for letting us stay at your house... I tried to use your lap top to check my email and it kind of froze.... I hope I didn't break it! Sorry! Love your adorable home, Charlotte was cool too, we headed downtown to drive around before we left, the Children's museum was closed since it was new years day, but Jeff was excited to get a picture in front of the Panthers' Bank of America stadium:)
