biblioteca

I'll say it probably a thousand times: I love where I live.
Not just the little town, but the location of our little old house in our little town.
We can literally see the library (brand spank'n new at that!) from our house. We walk there probably 4 days out of the week. Play with puzzles, look at the fish in the tank, go to story times, and check out a million books. The limit is 30 items at a time...and we do about that. We get movies too, which are always great.

I really am excited to help my girls love the library and love to read. Since our lap top is hit or miss, we watch very little movies, and we read a ton. Several hours a day together, reading books.

I just finished reading East of Eden. A John Steinbeck classic, great book, heavy, and a lot of hard stuff in it but I really liked it. Anyone ever read it? Thoughts? Now I'm onto something a little lighter: Eat Pray Love. So far, I already love it. Think I'm going to rotate reading a classic, then a something new.

Yay for books!

we LOVE the library too. perfect in the winter when its too cold . . and the summer when its too hot :) Glad you're liking Eat Pray Love. I couldn't stand the main character . . so much self-pity and selfishness for me. so I didn't even get through it so maybe it gets better? Just started The Help. really like it so far.

I'm a huge Steinbeck fan. I have all of his works. I'm so glad you liked East of Eden. Isn't all the biblical symbolism great? I like heavy books, though. I've also enjoyed The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. I want to read her other books in the series.

RachelRachelRachel!!! East of Eden is my ALL TIME favorite book. Oh I kept having to reread sentences over & over because they were so delicious in my mouth!
My recommendations for your next book? (since you asked. Oh wait, you didn't) Peace Like A River & the Story of Edgar Sawtelle. Those are both heavier, but for your next fun one, be sure to grab the Absolutley true diary of a part-time Indian. And laugh your ass off. It may or may not be illustrated. Awesomely.

I loved East of Eden--quite the masterpiece. I, like Erin, also had a hard time with Eat, Pray, Love. Maybe because I couldn't relate with the girl at all--although most people I know love the book. I recommend The Cellist of Sarajevo.
